The Phoenix Celiac Juniors (PCJ) group is a sub-section of the CDF: Greater Phoenix Chapter support group and is designed to help kids and teens affected by Celiac Disease. PCJ was founded in August 2011 by Taylr Coben with the intent of raising awareness outside of the Celiac community and providing support for those already living within the condition.
Often times, kids and teens with CD feel alone due to the rarity of the diagnosis of CD. PCJ is a group designed to help kids and teens with CD realize that, while they may be the only Celiac in their group of friends or at their school, there are many other kids and teens who feel the same as they do. PCJ is a way for kids and teens to express their feelings toward CD while learning simple things like: How to eat at a friend’s house and How to explain your diet to people who just don’t seem to “get it.”
The mission of PCJ is to provide a strong support system for any kid or teen with CD, whether newly diagnosed or needing a friend. PCJ is determined to provide information and bring the Celiac community closer together while raising awareness for Celiac Disease outside of the CD community. Do encourage your child to join Phoenix Celiac Juniors. It's a wonderful support system as well as a way to meet other celiac kids. Also, community service credits will be happily provided to their school for any volunteer work completed.
Do encourage your celiac child to join PCJ! Community service hours will be happily provided for kids who volunteer to help in any capacity.
